THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Samson's Delicatessen, Restaurant & Bakery Restaurant Review:
Old Hollywood posters hang on the walls, in the style of some New York City delicatessens, and the two large rooms are as frenetic as any youd find back east. When it comes to Big Apple or Los Angeles authenticity, however, Samsons doesnt cut the mustard. Still, whats not to like about sandwiches filled with chopped liver, corned beef or pastrami in such generous portions that they fill the nutritional---or at least caloric---requirements for the day? The matzo ball soup, borscht and blintzes are decent, and menu lists hundred of items, including such entrées as brisket, short ribs, stuffed cabbage and chicken in the pot, so youre bound to hit on something you like. The bakery items taste fresh, but tend to be large rather than finely crafted, and it would be nice if someone thought to give the staff a little training.
