: The entry gate to the elegant Savanna, named for the African plains, is fashioned from African spears and cowhide shields. African ceremonial masks, rawhide rugs and prints of wildlife adorn the pale butterscotch walls. Lush plants enhance the ambience and window seats overlook the resort's lovely gardens. Appetizer standouts include pan-seared Dungeness crab cakes with hot basil slaw and cilantro tartar sauce, oysters Bienville baked with diced shrimp and scampi-style shrimp in butter, lemon and white wine over wild rice. Among the entrées, our favorites are the walnut-encrusted sea bass over baby field greens with honey mustard sauce and the tournedos of filet mignon Oscar. Big meat eaters find satisfaction in the 20-ounce porterhouse with herb butter and fried onions, veal piccata with fresh wild mushrooms and pan-seared breaded pork chops with applejack sauce. Save room for the irresistible apple-walnut cobbler with vanilla ice cream.
