THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Savannah's Cafe Restaurant Review:

Good Southern food, with an emphasis on basic low country cuisine, makes this venue worth checking out. There is the expected emphasis on shrimp dishes, jumbo crab cakes and homemade cornbread. Soups come by the cup or bowl; salads include Savannah's signature Caesar. Appetizers include the spicy sweet potato chips, served with a blue cheese dip. But there are also fried green tomatoes or, another Southern favorite, fried grit cakes served with a roasted red pepper purée. Mississippi fried catfish appears as an entrée---dipped in yellow mustard, encrusted in cornmeal, topped with sautéed peppers and onions and served with a side of rémoulade and accompanied by garlic mashed potatoes and fresh collard greens. Grandma Jean's meatloaf combines beef and pork, and is topped with a sweet-and-sour sauce and served on a Kaiser roll. Some items are just down-home simple, like sautéed shrimp with cheese grits. A nice Southern touch for dessert is the pineapple upside-down cake. Oh, and the house mint julep packs a wallop.
