Sleek, chic and petite sums up the look of The Silver Palate, John Patrick Telfer’s sophisticated Great Neck bistro. But the blown-up photos of brides and flowers decorating the wall of this oh-so-cool setting remind diners that the chef-owner is also a custom caterer extraordinaire for the most sentimental of weddings and other Kodak milestones. Business events, too. Lunch here is a casual affair with sandwiches, salads and soups; Sunday brunch woos with eggs Benedict, quiche Lorraine and Belgian waffles; and then dinner gets serious with Chesapeake crab cakes, roasted duckling in Calvados and rare-seared yellowfin in a wasabi pea and panko crust. Even with such alluring entrées, the smitten know to leave room for dessert, saying "I do" to chocolate ganache soufflé, a marriage of molten cake and frozen orange soufflé, or Key lime tart. Can’t commit? Don’t worry, the dessert sampler is fine for you.
