The Steak House on Broadway Restaurant Review:
Formerly The Butcher Shop Steakhouse, this Chula Vista restaurant switched ownership and its name in 2008, but the setting and menu remain virtually the same. You still expect Frankie, Dean or Sammy to sidle around the corner any minute, as this joint has the Vegas steakhouse vibe down cold --- velvet wallpaper, blinking lights and leather banquettes. We like the friendly, old-school attitude that's been around since 1968, as well as the throwback menu. Start with the gargantuan shrimp cocktail with sinus-clearing red sauce. Steak --- corn-fed Nebraska beef, to be exact --- is the main attraction. We prefer the top sirloin with baked potato and mushrooms à la carte. Each entrée comes with a retro iceberg salad and a choice of baked potato, double-baked potato or steak-cut fries. Don’t feel like red meat? There are also chicken stuffed with mozzarella, peppers and asparagus in an herb beurre blanc sauce or Alaskan king crab. For dessert, try the authentic tiramisu, with its deep espresso and tangy-sweet mascarpone flavors.
