Sullivan Street Bakery Restaurant Review:

Sullivan Street Bakery is well known for its Italian-inspired breads made by bread master Jim Lahey. In fact, you can find his creations at a number of restaurants and gourmet shops in the city. At this Hell’s Kitchen retail outpost, there’s usually a line of devotees waiting to buy the crusty loaves and the pizzas --- more like flatbreads with toppings --- fresh out of the oven, though they’re equally good at room temperature. Brioche is beautifully light, and the multigrain pullman loaf is ideal for sandwiches. If you get there early you’ll be able to snag one of the well-made desserts, like ricotta and fruit tarts, and, during the Christmas season, the homemade panettone, which can’t be beat this side of the Adriatic.
