Sura Restaurant Review:
Go just north of downtown Long Beach’s municipal bustle and you’ll find this small, unassuming venue. The minimal décor and black and white color scheme evoke casual unpretentiousness. They also serve as a clue that the primary focus here is the menu, and that’s a good thing. Finely crafted classic Korean cuisine abounds: bibimbap; soon-tofu soup; and Korean BBQ items like bulgogi and the must-have beef short rib galbi. Each dish is made without compromising tradition, and this adherence makes them intriguing and quite enjoyable. Fusion items such as Korean beef tacos and sliders are served up, too, and they’re prepared as serious bites and not novelties. Whatever culinary route is chosen, the food can be paired with a selection from the small but thoughtfully designed wine or craft beer list.
