: The modest interior of The Sushi House is matched by the small exterior at this beachy-casual spot. Asian influences mix with hipster art, creating a raw feel to the place, a little funky and intimate. Start with local oysters on the half shell with ponzu sauce and green onion. Then consider one of the 26 rolls, including baked salmon tempura. But the focus is on bolder flavors and ingredients as in the Mexican roll: jalapeño tempura, asparagus, spicy crab and cucumber, topped with avocado, green onion, Mexican hot sauce and spicy mayo. Similarly, the County Line roll of spicy tuna, jalapeño, avocado and cream cheese, deep fried and topped with eel sauce and spicy mayo, is also tasty. The Rincon extreme roll with tuna, salmon, crab, avocado and shrimp is wrapped in cucumber skins then finished with baked scallops. You’ll also find beef and chicken teriyaki dishes, various noodles and tofu plates. A small selection of saké, wine and beer rounds out the offerings. Also located at 1651 S. Victoria Ave., Oxnard, 805-382-2222. |
