THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Sushinho Restaurant Review:
The inspiration for Sushinho originates in the 165 Japanese families who landed in Sao Paulo, Brazil, in 1908, starting a community which has grown into the current significant population. When it first opened there was a flirtation with fusing Brazilian and Japanese cuisines, but now the restaurant concentrates almost entirely on sushi and sashimi as well as dishes like ceviche of sea bream or sea bass, tempura and larger plates such as Wagyu steak tartare with wasabi and fried plantain. In a small concession to their background, you can get confit pork salad with mango, melon and burnt orange dressing and corn-fed chicken. The venue is dark with bare brick walls and sexy lighting. There's a downstairs bar cum club playing samba tracks, a good staff and a cocktail list that includes the Sakeirinha (the Brazilian cocktail caipirinha using Japanese saké).
