Despite its very similar concept to a DC salad eatery, this McLean destination, housed in a former ice cream store, offers both make-your-own combo and house-special salads plus substantial sandwiches that will fill in with the calories missing from your lighter greens lunch. Salads include a predictable California Cobb and an Asian chicken mixture, but the standouts are the sandwiches, and who wouldn’t want to take out The British, with its sliced roast beef and Swiss cheese? Commuters---residents, too---can jumpstart the day with one of the breakfast sandwiches for take-away convenience; pair it with a cup of freshly brewed espresso and a cupcake.
