: Celebrity chef Jeff Tunks’ pan-Asian restaurant (a rebirth of the original place in DC) sets the bar high for experimental dishes on the lunch, dim sum and dinner menus. Stop by midday and kick off the meal with sushi and/or sashimi --- how about a Gilligan’s Island roll with spicy crab and mango? Or try the small plates to share. Among these, the Chinese smoked spare ribs, the lamb pot stickers and the wok-seared calamari are musts. But the possibilities go on to include ramen bowls, hot rice bowls, sandwiches (get the crispy pork) and options featuring salmon, teriyaki beef tenderloin and lemongrass chicken breast. Dinnertime selections are similar but with the addition of many large plates, also for sharing: Chinese roast duck, Chinese smoked lobster, red Thai duck curry and cumin lamb chops. Asian-themed desserts are toasted coconut and Key lime pie, lemongrass panna cotta and chilled matcha latte. The cocktail and wine menus are worth perusing if you like unusual beverages. |
