Trail Creek Cabin’s wide-ranging American menu offers lamb shank, flat-iron steak, beet salad, calamari, gnocchi, chocolate cake, pecan pie and more, all enjoyed in a vintage 1937 mountain classic setting. Although these choices are stars in their own right, guests come here mostly for the ambience. Open year-round, in summer the restaurant seats guests on an outdoor deck along the creek, which feels like a high-end picnic. However, wintertime is ideal for experiencing the delights of this romantic spot. When snow is on the ground, many patrons depart from Sun Valley Resort, taking a horse-drawn sleigh amid the crisp mountain air one-and-a-half miles to the front door. An extensive wine list offers sophisticated pairings at a range of prices, while the dessert selection changes weekly.
