Tre Lune Restaurant Review

: Well-heeled residents of Montecito favor this northern Italian eatery for its refined atmosphere and neighborhood feel. Located in a quiet section of Coast Village Road, Tre Lune is part of the Montesano Group, a collection that includes some of Santa Barbara’s hippest clothing stores, in addition to popular restaurants like Joe’s Café and D’Angelo’s Bakery. The owner, designer-turned-restaurateur Gene Montesano, imbues all of his businesses with a sense of style. Here, black and white glamour photos line the walls. Service is polished and urbane. As you’d expect from a northern Italian restaurant, the kitchen turns out several risottos---notably, a land and sea version in which the earthy flavors of portobello mushrooms and arugula mix with fresh shrimp, mussels and clams in a white wine sauce. A delicate beef tenderloin carpaccio is served with Parmesan and mustard dressing, and the tagliata ai ferri is made with Prime New York steak, the meat sliced to reveal a rosy center, and laid atop a bed of peppery arugula. Desserts like tiramisu and cannoli are made in-house, and a number of nice Italian wines are available.
