Trevor's At The Tracks Restaurant Review:

About the restaurant & décor: The charming brick building hosting owner Trevor Baird’s namesake restaurant was once the San Juan Capistrano train depot, and the space still carries a touch of old-school romance. At the same time, the venue’s massive patio and sleek outdoor bar create a modern and effortlessly relaxing vibe.

Likes: The outdoor patio.
Dislikes: Space between the bar and seating.

Food & Drinks: Executive chef Joseph Tripi’s seasonal New American menu utilizes as much locally sourced products as possible, and his knack for balancing flavors makes this culinary motif feel vibrant without a trace of gimmickry. Starters like the roasted cauliflower with Meyer lemon or the bright no lettuce salad highlight ingredient quality, while other appetizers, among them the kicked-up rotating mac and cheese options, are indulgently satisfying. For mains, classic fare like the filet with Cabernet demi-glace shares the menu with dishes that gently nudge the envelope, such as the miso honey-glazed salmon with saké beurre blanc and garden bok choy. Be sure to save room for the salted caramel cheesecake at meal’s end. People visiting the nearby Mission can drop in and enjoy a craft cocktail and generously portioned sandwiches like the Russian Reuben or the thick Cubano. A nice list of craft beers and California wines is offered, including a couple of exclusive private labels.
