Because South Indian vegetarian cooking is not common in these parts, many of the dishes may sound unfamiliar, but even if you have no idea what you’re ordering, you won’t be disappointed. We recommend the sambar and the alu bonda appetizers, and crave the masala dhosas (thin rice crêpes filled with piquant potatoes and onion slices). The mango lassi is a delicious drink, and if you want to overindulge on sweets, stop by the sweetmeats counter on the way out; it features numerous Indian candies and pastries. This place is a real treat; chances are you’ll have better luck getting a seat during the week or at off-hours. Weekends are especially busy.
