Hungry from an afternoon of shopping at The Grove? Enjoy a gourmet burger at Umami Burger, the growing chain named after the elusive "fifth taste" that is neither sweet, sour, salty nor bitter, but sultry and savory --- a Japanese notion. The kitchen turns out more than a dozen different takes on beef burgers, plus variations with chicken, ahi tuna and the meat-like (but vegan) Impossible Burger. (The buns are stamped with "U" for Umami Burger.) The namesake creation is made with house ketchup, roasted tomato, shiitake mushrooms, caramelized onions and a Parmesan crisp. Rounding out the menu are starters, salads and sides of tempura onion rings and fries. This branch also offers craft beers and wines.
