THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED The Van Dyck Restaurant & Brewery Restaurant Review:

Is it a jazz club, a brew pub, or a fine restaurant? Well, the Van Dyck tries to be all three---and succeeds in large part. The big downstairs bar is friendly and boisterous, the many smaller fine-dining rooms are beautifully appointed. The upstairs jazz room hosts some of the hottest jazz acts on the road including Joshua Redman, Elvin Jones and Chick Corea. Food may not be the foremost reason people go to the Van Dyck, but the fare here certainly beats that at most jazz clubs or brewpubs. We usually stick with the pub fare (calamari, crab cakes, salads) when taking in a show---who wants to be distracted from a $24 entrée or from a soloing Elvin Jones? The fine-dining menu, however, should certainly be tried, if only to sit in the beautiful private room for two. Look for contemporary American fare such as herb-roasted prime rib and stuffed salmon.
