THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Village Tavern Restaurant Review:
Dark woods, cushioned booths, subdued lighting and an open kitchen give the spacious dining room a comfortable feel, and friendly servers add to the relaxed ambience. Start with a trendy cocktail such as the Skinny Appleton Mojito (no sugar) or an Elderflower Spritzer, or go straight to the solid wine list with dozens by the glass. The expansive menu has something for every taste, from burgers and whole-wheat flatbreads to hand-cut steaks, pastas and fish. You can make a meal of the substantial appetizers, like the bacon-wrapped scallops, fried oysters, grilled Thai chicken skewers and a jumbo lump crab cake. Steaks are the specialty, but the pan-roasted black cod with Acacia honey is a good alternative. Sip a coffee and finish with the tart Key lime pie, a Florida tradition. Sunday morning brunch is a splurge with choices like salmon Benedict, Brie and bacon omelet, shrimp and grits and thick Belgian waffles with fresh whipped cream.
