THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Vine & Tap Restaurant Review:

Vine & Tap focuses its décor on a long bar that encourages conviviality, while there's plenty of two-top seating for couples as well as larger tables for groups. From the ceiling, a spangle of small lights provides just the right illumination to enable viewing the color of wine in the glass. Owner Ian Mendelsohn opened with a broad-based collection of mostly old-world wines and fine local and international brews, then added spirits to his portfolio. Important details include good glassware and proper serving temperatures. He offers a number of choices by the glass, among them a Champagne (Laurent-Perrier). The Coravin system allows guests to sample wines in three-ounce pours (except bottles with Stelvin closure and sparkling wines). We suggest a plate of charcuterie (including house-made country pâté) and cheese for openers. Follow with a succession of small plates, such as Florida rock shrimp with a smoky tomato jus or braised short rib sliders. Or choose a hefty main like hanger steak and frites. For Sunday supper, solid Italian American fare inspires three courses for $20, and wine bottles are half price. The Sunday mini-menu from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. is designed for sports fans. Firm-textured Italian dark chocolate pudding with sweetened whipped cream and Maldon sea salt is our idea of a luxurious finish. A few dessert wines are available.
