Viola Restaurant Review:
In the heart of the Batignolles area, this Italian bistro serves gastronomic fare at an affordable price. Young chef Vincenzo Patruno hails from Apulia, a region of southern Italy, and did a stint at Emporio Armani Caffe. He knows how to highlight fine ingredients thanks to a creative flair and an impeccable technique. Signature dishes include gambas tartare flavored with citrus fruit as well as paccheri, tube-shaped pasta stuffed with langoustines and mozzarella and coated with an eggplant sauce. Other courses also make for fine dining, such as pan-seared scallops with truffle and lentils, and first and foremost the lamb cooked in two ways, as a tartare and an almond-coated fillet with a pumpkin purée. The chef even prepares the tiramisu with a twist, perfumed with grappa and mango. Well-stocked cellar with about 35 organic Italian wines.
