Remember Yogi Berra’s old saying that nobody ever goes there anymore because it’s too crowded? The same could be said about this Old Greenwich institution that’s been the neighborhood meeting place and watering hole for generations. A maze of small rooms, its walls carved with graffiti, Angie’s, as this heirloom from the past is affectionately known by locals, is a vestige of what Greenwich was all about a half-century ago---a small town where everybody knew each other. It’s still the same here, with most of the staff knowing each customer and their children by name. And would you believe that not only has this family-owned relic survived the test of time, so have the prices, with a prime rib dinner just $14.95, a half of a Long Island duck priced at $16.95, or veal Parmigiano with spaghetti for $15.95. And don’t forget, all come with salad, potato, vegetable or spaghetti. If you want decent food, pleasantly served, and reasonably priced, at last you know where to go.
