From Route 4, Wood-n-Tap Bar & Grill looks like just another local watering hole. What those who motor past don't know is that this cozy place actually overlooks a watering hole: It is situated on a small but charming pond. In fact, nothing beats a seat on the back deck when the weather's nice (though you can enjoy the view from inside, too). Generous portions unify the rather eclectic menu, which ranges from burgers and blimp-shaped pizzas (we're partial to the spinach and artichoke pie) to steak and seafood entrées served with your choice of Caesar or signature salad. When there's a game on, the bar fills with fans of the home team, the beer selection and the "bar bites": mini turkey, chicken, bison or beef burgers served with fries. Seasonal menus prove the kitchen’s versatility. Dessert time presents a chance to do good: $1 is donated to charity for each fruit-topped, Oreo-crust cheesecake the restaurant serves.
