Woodlands Restaurant Review:
This comfortable little gem introduces Western palates to a whole new way of dining with South Indian creations based on Hindu tradition, offering an entirely different menu than Americanized Indian restaurants. If the menu is intimidating, just point and order---it's all vegetarian. The specialty is dosai, thin crêpes filled with vegetables like carrots, chilies, onions, peas and cilantro. Or try the malai kofta---vegetable dumplings in a saffron-laced cashew and almond sauce. Leave it up to the kitchen and order the South Indian thali dinner with tomato soup, a samosa, vada lentils (a fried lentil donut), chickpeas, a choice of two curries, rice, raita, chutney and dessert.
