Zip's Cafe Restaurant Review:

There's something nostalgic about Zip's that appeals to families and college kids alike. It's a spot that feels like home because it never changes. You know what to expect and exactly what it will taste like. Burgers are served simply: hand-patted, broiled and placed on a toasted bun, with lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, a generous onion slice and your choice of condiments. Black bean and veggie burgers are offered, too. Some people don't get the appeal of Zip's; maybe they just didn't grow up with it. However, if you're a burger connoisseur, you have to at least try a Zipburger. Look for rotating desserts and local brews on tap. A line out the door is typical at this cramped café that's been around since 1926, where office workers elbow up to moms with little ones at shared tables. Coveted booths come at a premium (wait, that is). A model train circles the black-painted ceiling, and a jukebox is still present.
