Striving to create the atmosphere of a spiritual retreat, Castell Son Claret is a resort for travelers who want less (in terms of action), rather than more from their holiday. This 325-acre estate dates back to 1450 and is home to a castle-like manor along with eight houses and stables, all of which have been beautifully renovated to maintain a dignified style and meet modern needs. The 38 guest rooms and suites feature private gardens, and some accommodations in the stables have their own pools. Zaranda restaurant serves creative cuisine using produce from the grounds, while Bellesa de Claret Spa features a Moorish hammam and outdoor massage tents. Additional lures include a swimming pool, on-site bakery and the Castell Bar in the former chapel. Tranquility can be found among the orchard's fig, pomegranate and persimmon trees. But a sense of solitude does not mean forced isolation. Located in western Mallorca in the province of Calvia (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), the estate is near hiking trails, beaches and the lively Puerto Portals harbor.
