11th Street Diner Restaurant Review: A reliable place to grab a bite on the way to or from the beach, this stainless steel, '50s diner offers standard fare. None of the lunch or dinner entrées is particularly noteworthy on a culinary scale, except, perhaps, the evocative old-fashioned turkey dinner (made from birds fresh-roasted daily). But breakfasts---featuring properly-cooked eggs, thick slices of french toast, hefty sausages, buttery grits, and all the other diner standards---are everything one needs for a 2 a.m. pick-me-up. Well, except for maybe one of the place's milkshakes---very thick, very good. Nightly specials are worth checking out, and the odd mix of trendy and family atmosphere is always fun; sass the staff here and they sass right back. |
