| For spirited locals looking for a cold beer and a hot meal, few places can match Shaker Heights’ Academy Tavern. It thrives on casual banter between barmaids and regulars and serves up hearty portions of homemade comfort foods like spaghetti and meatballs, fish fries, homemade soups and burgers. Its namesake burger is particularly noteworthy, if straightforward. The fries that arrive alongside are hot and salty and go well with an extra-thick milkshake (chocolate is our fave). |
