Al Dente Restaurant Restaurant Review

: With a family-friendly atmosphere, reasonable prices and generous portions, Al Dente has one more thing going for it --- every plate of pasta is made to order. No overcooked spaghetti here. The cozy spot has plenty of competition on Salem Street, but maintains a loyal following with good reason. Try the mussels marinara, with fresh PEI mussels sautéed in white wine, garlic, and plum tomato sauce to start. The house special, composed of sautéed scaloppine of veal, chicken and shrimp with broccoli, mushrooms, peppers and artichoke hearts, is generous enough to share, but you may not want to. Fresh potato gnocchi, tossed in a plum tomato sauce with sun-dried tomatoes, capers, basil, pecorino romano and Parmesan cheeses, mushrooms and white wine, are a delight. The Italian-focused wine list offers plenty of options and price points. We recommend the homemade tiramisu for dessert. The restaurant wisely offers validated parking in a garage five minutes away, a bonus in the parking space-starved area.
