ALAN WONG'S AMASIA Restaurant Review

: Alan Wong, of Alan Wong's Honolulu and The Pineapple Room, launched ALAN WONG'S AMASIA at the Grand Wailea, A Waldorf Astoria Resort. The dining room is designed in traditional Japanese fashion, from tatami mats and low tables to the sushi bar next to rocks imported from Mount Fuji. There is a stream and a bridge that runs through the space lending an outdoor-Kyoto feel. The restaurant also features a robata grill, as well as a bar serving up private-label liquor and signature cocktails. Chef Wong's menu concept fuses the flavors of the world in dishes like ahi meatballs, duck buns and spare ribs, and imports a few of his classic selections from Honolulu, too, among them the soup and sandwich and tomato salad.
