Aldo Los Altos Restaurant Review:
Owner Donato De Marchi received his culinary training in Bellagio, Italy, and worked as a chef at Villa D'Este in Lake Como and at Metropole Suisse Hotel in Switzerland. Lucky for Los Altos, he has brought authentic Italian cuisine and Swiss hospitality to this bustling downtown eatery. You’ll almost always see him on the floor, visiting every table with a warm welcome. Plentiful antipasti (calamari fritti are especially crispy) encourage sharing. Favorite salads include the Aldo, featuring sausage atop spring greens with shaved fennel, Tuscan bread salad with chicken and beets with grilled endive, goat cheese and hearts of palm. A rich treat is the spinach lasagna rolled with ham, Gruyère, Parmesan and fresh spinach, baked in a four-cheese cream sauce. Game hen cacciatore over polenta or pollo limoncello --- chicken scallopini with artichokes, capers and limoncello --- are bright and zesty. Dolci are a must, with tiramisu, chocolate cheesecake and coconut crème brûlée sure to satisfy your sweet tooth. Good kids’ menu, too.
