THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Alfredo's Restaurant Review:
THIS RESTAURANT IS CHANGING LOCATIONS. Perhaps the most popular of the old-fashioned Italian-American establishments in Atlanta, Alfredo’s appeals for its atmosphere as well, with low ceilings, cozy banquettes, nondescript paintings and a well-worn interior. While the calamari are tender, they don't offer much flavor, are rings only, and the accompanying tomato sauce is pretty ketchup-y. Lasagna is among well-liked dishes. He-man portions include the sausage and peppers accompanied by pasta on the side, but, although the sausage has a good texture, it seems to lack the requisite fennel seed. Indeed, most dishes come with a side of pasta, American style. Veal saltimbocca, however, is exactly as you expect. For dessert, aim at the ricotta cheesecake. The wine list has a couple of good values.
