Alpha Restaurant Restaurant Review:

Chef Peter Conistis’ venture, its name using the Greek alphabet’s first letter, is an airy city-center space in the Hellenic Club. It works just as well for large groups or romantic couples looking for some privacy. Bar seats are popular too, if you want to feel part of the action. The menu features modern Greek dishes inspired by traditional Greek culture. Each is designed to be shared, with Yia Yia's (Grandma’s) Table Menu on offer for four or more guests. Choose from plenty of dips and warm breads, generous salads, a lovely spanakopita pie, seafood and lamb roasts. The adjoining food store has many authentic ingredients and a variety of freshly made pies, hot and ready-to-eat, or pre-prepared to cook at home. Conistis likes dessert, so save room for something with rosewater or Greek ice cream, maybe a sliver of baklava. The wine list contains a mixture of Australian and Greek artisan wines that have been carefully selected to complement Alpha's cuisine; cocktails and ouzo are available, too.
