THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Amélie's French Bakery & Café Restaurant Review:
Charm oozes from every nook and cranny of this smartly restyled historic space. An assembly of variously styled copies of French paintings adorns the walls, punctuated by the greeting "Bonjour" in large red letters. Quiet surroundings make repose possible, so you can enjoy a breakfast croissant and coffee or a lunchtime croissant stuffed with chicken salad. Crisp-crusted baguettes are on hand as well. Fruit-filled Danish pastries make an enticing option. Lunch and dinner also present bouchées, savory filled puff pastry; various tartines; and any of several daily-changing soups. A house salad with freshly made dressings can accompany a selection. We like the availability of a half sandwich or half tartine. This is one time when you simply must have dessert, which may be either French or American in inspiration. Pain perdu and a mini pecan tarte are among the temptations. You'll want a French press, too, or perhaps a cup of tea. No alcohol. Catering is a specialty.
