Given its name, it's appropriate that this restaurant offers food that represents the flavors that make America great. A 90-by-20-foot cartoonish food map of the country dominates the spacious room. The 20-seat bar with TV screens is a cheerful gathering place. Specialty drinks, including the Big Apple mojito, are nice, too. East Coast favorites such as the Reuben are done well here, and the Midwest gets a nod from a savory bratwurst cooked the right way: steamed in beer then char-grilled. America's burger---a half pound of ground sirloin---comes with an array of optional and extra toppings. Southern fried chicken is a must, and macaroni and cheese in a white Wisconsin cheddar cheese sauce isn't just a side here, it's an entrée. Save room for the Southern apple crisp created with Granny Smith apples in a caramel glaze on vanilla cake with crunchy brown butter. Among coffee specialties is the refreshing caramel cafe caramello.
