| This incarnation of Michael Cordúa’s Américas sits atop the River Oaks shopping center, where patio diners are privy to views of towering Upper Kirby high-rises. Architect and designer Jordan Mozer’s interiors marry blonde-wood tables with sculpted leather chairs and banquettes, creating a cool, modern environment. The star of any Cordúa global culinary feast is the churrasco, a signature entrée of aged beef tenderloin with chimichurri, yucca, pickled onion and béarnaise sauce. But don’t bypass the appetizers: you can make a meal from the ceviches, some laced with pepper heat, that can be ordered singularly or in a flight of four. The smoked lamb “lollichops” with an anticucho marinade are sinful, but the angel wings---frenched chicken wings with a blue cheese dipping sauce---are heavenly. Tres leches cake and an espresso may round out the evening, along with a bottle of Chilean or Argentinean wine. |
