 Amici Miei Ristorante Restaurant Review: Tucked away in a small suburban shopping center far from the madding crowd, this very serious restaurant shuns the typical Italian-American menu that offers spaghetti covered in meatballs and tomato sauce. Instead, the chef-owners want to entice families to enjoy the traditions of the Italian table with such dishes as osso buco in a red wine sauce and served with soft polenta. A roundup of pastas includes homemade ravioli stuffed with spinach, fresh potato gnocchi with a lamb ragout, and linguine with baby clams. The chefs do take advantage of the brick oven by tossing several thin-crusted pizzas and topping them with cheese, grilled vegetables, roasted peppers and assorted other ingredients. Desserts come via trolley, and we sigh over the tiramisu, one of the best in the area. |
