 Aqueous Restaurant Review: Frank Lloyd Wright’s architecture, in nearby Fallingwater, inspires both the Falling Rock hotel and its beautifully appointed restaurant. The elegant décor features angles, regional materials and references to nature. The American menu offers steak and interesting seafood such as a whole baked branzino. Traditional starters include jumbo shrimp cocktail and French onion soup. Main courses showcase lobster, dry-aged steaks, local lamb, poultry and finfish. Diners also may opt for such classic sides as creamed spinach, steak fries and salt-roasted baked potatoes. Ingredients represent quality American --- especially local --- producers. For dessert you'll not go wrong with espresso crème brûlée or a dark chocolate bombe. The wine list draws from an expansive cellar. To cap the experience, reserve the private dining room, with its view into the bustling kitchen. Note that the restaurant and hotel are open only in season, May through October, but the property can be reserved for special functions --- corporate retreats, conferences --- the rest of the year. |
