When shopping around Legacy Place, you might be surprised to find this tucked-away French bistro. Aquitaine Bar & Vin Bistrot is a venture of The Aquitaine Group, which operates the popular original South End and Chestnut Hill locations. Upon entering the restaurant, you’ll notice the massive bar lined with wine bottles on the wall; the dining room is striking as well, with bright red booths and mirrors. Get started with a tequila-infused blood orange Tango cocktail, spiced up with the addition of jalapeño juice, to go with daily varying fresh oysters that may include South Bay. Or dive into jumbo shrimp and crispy Point Judith calamari served with green goddess dressing. Filet of sole is a standout, accompanied by a side of creamy whipped potatoes and snap peas topped with a beurre blanc. Steak frites is another signature dish: juicy hanger steak finished with a black truffle vinaigrette and complemented by a side of golden fries. Nightly specials have ranged from lamb T-bone, roasted duck and pan-roasted cod. Apple tarte Tatin is an indulgence, sided by rich crème fraîche ice cream and warm caramel sauce.
