Atkins Park Tavern Restaurant Review: Atkins Park Tavern fits right in with the quaint architecture and atmosphere of Market Village in Smyrna. Chef Rusty Hamlin, a Louisiana native, lends a Creole touch to some of the dishes and creates others that are signature to this location. Look for the muffaletta, a po' boy and a debris sandwich, and there’s gumbo with andouille and jambalaya, too. Atkins Park classics include the house-made pretzels with mustard sauce and the fried chicken with whipped potatoes and braised greens. A Louisiana influence is seen again in the beignets for dessert. The wine list is serviceable, with lots of decent choices by the glass, but we prefer the beers. Wednesdays and Sundays bring a deal on oysters, either raw on the half shell or roasted, but if that’s of interest, get there early, because when they’re gone, they’re gone.
