Don’t let the fact that this family-style restaurant is located in a mall fool you---Auntie Pasto’s has a surprisingly creative Italian-American menu with local, home-cooked touches and the freshest ingredients. The Bolognese-style meat sauce is lean ground beef and pork simmered in wine and tomato sauce, with a mirepoix of fresh vegetables. Homemade meatballs are made with your choice of turkey and spinach or ground beef stuffed with mozzarella. Even the caprese comes with oven-roasted plum tomatoes and homemade basil oil with fresh basil and mozzarella cheese. To start, we also recommend the oven-roasted, large button mushrooms stuffed with Gorgonzola and mozzarella cheeses, and the goat cheese fondue with bread, fruit and veggies. Nana’s lasagna is a fine choice, as are the Neapolitan-style pizzas and gnocchi with vodka spinach sauce. And for a refreshing libation, try the pineapple cosmo with a li hing mui sugar rim or the blueberry and mint mojito.
