THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Clyde Common Restaurant Review:

The L-shaped, zinc-topped bar is a big draw at Clyde Common, where Portland's artisanal alcohols are featured in intriguing cocktails. Add sophisticated urban style, a convivial atmosphere, a prime location near the Crystal Ballroom and other downtown music venues, the über-hip Ace Hotel next door and the allure of people-watching and this spot has it all. Stop in for a drink and snack before a show, or stick around for the food. Extroverts may take a seat at the communal table, while those desiring more privacy can choose a table on the upstairs balcony. The kitchen is ambitious and prone to turning out intriguing combinations of disparate flavors on a meat-heavy menu --- vegetarians may have a hard time identifying choices. Dishes rotate and have included grilled bacon, apricot chutney, Gruyère and arugula; tagliatelle with sausage, shiitake mushrooms and pickled jalapeño peppers; squid ink tagliarini; duck with black garlic, cauliflower, tomatillos and bulgur; and pastrami short ribs with celery root and radishes. Everyone will enjoy the fries served with two dipping sauces: crème fraîche and spicy harissa. The creative trend continues with desserts, where grapefruit sorbet with celeriac white chocolate ice cream and candied pistachio is a favorite. Brunch is more conventional but does feature a tasty Brussels sprouts, cheese and egg option. The Northwest-leaning wine list offers something for everyone.
