If you are a fan of TV’s Top Chef, you probably know all about its alum, Spike Mendelsohn, a young man who made it through several episodes on the show. But you may not realize he opened this bustling eatery, where hungry Hill staffers and locals crowd in for the overstuffed burgers and hand-cut fries. Toppings include almost everything edible, and even vegetarians are not left out in the cold --- they can pick up a 'Shroom Burger made with cheese-stuffed portobello tops. Afraid of calories? Order a salad, one of four different iceberg wedges in various guises. But save some of your appetite for the maxed-out milkshakes, big, frosty servings such as toasted marshmallow, Milky Way Malt, and Soursop Hop Strawberry. Also located in Georgetown and Crystal City.
