THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED The Mill at 2T is the cozy, continental restaurant owned by married couple Kelleanne and Ryan Jones. Warm and sophisticated, the place is located in a former mill on the Farmington River. While there are a handful of tables for intimate dining, the best spots are at the bar designed not for drinking but for watching what’s going on in the kitchen. It is there that Ryan and staff work their magic with meats, produce and other foodstuffs from area farms, creating an eclectic daily menu. The Chioggia beets and pea shoot salad was a pleasing far cry from the iceberg lettuce and cucumber mélange many restaurants opt for in season. Braised Berkshire pork short ribs were fork-tender and lightly dressed with a demi-glaze that was sweet but not overpowering. A favorite dessert is Jones’ version of a summertime hit, s’mores, a layered creation of marshmallow risotto, chocolate and graham crackers. Sit at the bar and be prepared to be the taste-testers for menu items like fresh seared scallops or potato gnocchi. An extensive wine list is also available with Kelleanne providing guidance.
