Mrs. Murphy & Sons Irish Bistro Restaurant Review:

There’s something decidedly different --- even a bit austere --- about this Irish eatery, and it’s no doubt due to the former funeral home setting. Still, soothing hues; oodles of interesting, Celtic-inspired stained glass; and a fab, if odd, layout only add to the charm. Sure, the menu hosts items like shepherd’s pie and corned beef and cabbage, but the real crux is contemporary Irish cuisine, like ribs glazed with whiskey marmalade alongside blue cheese slaw. On a chilly winter’s night, we guarantee an instant warm-up with root vegetable pancakes. Venison osso buco with pan-seared Brussels sprouts is as alluring as bacon-wrapped pork tenderloin in Murphy’s Bleachers Ale reduction. Nevertheless, it’s hard to ignore corned duck salad or potato-mushroom lasagna with goat cheese cream. When available, rich hazelnut-infused chocolate cake in a pool of cinnamon-scented orange marmalade is a welcome finale.
