Rainbow Lodge Restaurant Review:

Located in a century-old lodge on an acre of gardens, this mainstay of Houston dining offers professional service, cozy rooms with fireplaces, and a menu featuring wild game, local produce and vegetables, and herbs from the onsite garden. Newcomers should spring for the six-course tasting menu, but regulars know what they want: fried quail on cheddar grits with bourbon bacon gravy, for example, the throwback lobster Thermidor finished tableside, or the South Texas duo of venison medallions and a wild boar chop. For dessert, we suggest the bread pudding comprised of croissants and bourbon caramel. In addition to a good wine list, there are monthly wine events on the patio. Note that small plates are offered in The Tied Fly Bar. Overall, Rainbow Lodge is an appropriate date-night spot and also great for a weekday lunch to enjoy, perhaps, the wild game burger on Fridays. Check out the brunch and family supper on Sundays, too.
