Traffic Jam & Snug Restaurant Review:
The Wayne State University hangout (professors rather than students, for the most part) has always been known for its fresh-baked breads, house-made cheeses and eclectic menu that emphasizes vegetarian dishes. The warm, brick-walled setting with a warren of rooms decorated with urban artifacts plucked from dozens of estate sales is another plus. Favorite dishes include crêpes filled with spinach, sprouts, tomato, carrots and cheese; crab cakes with red pepper-caper tartar sauce or mustard aïoli; and soups like gazpacho or portobello mushroom. A selection of wine from around the world adds to the appeal. For dessert, don’t miss the Carlotta Chocolatta ice cream cheesecake, a combination of double chocolate cheesecake, coffee ice cream, bittersweet hot fudge and espresso sprinkles.
