Wally's Cafe Restaurant Review:

Down an alley off busy San Pablo Avenue, hidden behind the slightly gritty Bank Club saloon, sits this no-frills, old-fashioned diner comprised of one ring of counter seats with a kitchen in the middle. Owner Walid ("Wally") helms the center area and greets his regulars with reserved pleasantries, free bowls of lentil soup and just-right attentive service. (An unexpected sample of this or that might casually find its way to diners if he feels so moved.) The large poster of Pixar's "WALL-E" character represents devotees from that nearby company, who frequent the joint for its fresh, above-average hummus, baba ghanouj, dolmas and gyros, as well as more complex treats such as well spiced, garlicky shrimp or beef kebabs. Portions are generous and budget friendly, though the place is cash only. Dessert includes house-made baklava.
