THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED The Willett House Restaurant Review:
The Willett House evokes a bygone era of carriage houses and horse-drawn wagons, a time when this town was a burgeoning center of shipping and commerce. Situated in a late-eighteenth-century granary originally occupied by the Westchester Grain Company, the restaurant boasts a décor of equipment and other effects from its former identity and photos from that period. Founded by four tech-savvy entrepreneurs who wanted to bring their New York City steakhouse experiences to Port Chester, Willett House offers a menu of classic meat mecca fare. A spinach salad or tomato capri is recommended before the pilgrimage. Crab meat-stuffed scallops might follow. Prime cuts like the 40-ounce porterhouse for two and the veal chop take center stage and will satisfy any carnivore. Savory sides --- sautéed mushrooms, sautéed spinach --- create a nice balance to these dishes. Round off the meal with classic desserts including a multi-layered carrot cake and Key lime pie. The wine list is characterized by a comprehensive selection of California Cabernet Sauvignons in addition to Merlots, Hermitage and regional white varietals.
