Ba Bar Restaurant Review:

Chef/owner Eric Banh draws on Vietnamese street food as his inspiration for Ba Bar’s offerings, and channels a Parisian café for the environs and service. The space is spare with high ceilings and light streaming through giant windows and spilling over dark wood tables. The entrance doubles as an espresso and pastry stand, while the back third of the dining room is devoted to a welcoming bar. Bowls of rich, long-simmered pho, chewy mung bean dumplings, and flaky, pastry-encased paté chaud typical of refined tables in Saigon transport diners to a Hanoi street corner. An extended spirits list keeps the focus on the bar and cocktails, including an excellent Moscow Mule and the house Nguyen Dynasty (gin, rhubarb syrup and fresh lemon juice topped with Prosecco). The same pastry chef supplying the case in the front provides the dessert menu with sweets featuring Vietnamese flavors and French techniques, from macarons to pineapple upside-down cake.
