The mezzanine-level Balcony restaurant in the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel offers Avenue of the Arts views along with an approachable menu of American cuisine. Expect dependable versions of sliders, lasagna and fish ‘n’ chips. Standouts include chef Neal Drinkwine’s oversize all-lump-meat crab cakes (eat your heart out Maryland) and a grilled three-cheese with tomato soup that will make you feel like staying home from school. Although there's a full bar, every Thursday is BYO night, so bring your favorite craft beer or bottle of wine---no corkage fee. For dessert, try The Doubletree Stack: a trio of homemade chocolate chip cookies served with vanilla and chocolate ice cream, whipped cream, caramel and chocolate sauce. Don’t miss the mummers’ murals along the restaurant’s back walls, truly a Philly original.
